It's been a while, so here's an update on the community garden. After the goats had finished clearing the brambles and building work had finished, some planting began.

Thanks to the volunteers from Cadernid there is a good crop of potatoes, beetroots, radishes, carrots and other veggies that should be available soon in the community fridge. One of the raised beds is an excellent herb garden, while the path beds are stuffed full of flowers that are getting lots of visits from bees. We've also made some (slow) progress on taking down one section of the wall and building another, which is important for making the garden insurance-safe to allow visitors.

The pond at the back is very popular with the local birds and the trellis at the back is supporting busy lizzies (impatiens walleriana) and sunflowers. There should be plenty of colour through the summer.

We've also added a 1,000 litre water butt which has harvested rain from the big roof of the building, which means we're reusing that to water the plants, rather than taking from the grid. It took about two days to fill to capacity - thank you Wales - which means we have quite a bit saved for the hot weather.
